Alexandra Diaz — Co-Founder, Bilingual Bookshelf

Alexandra Diaz is a bilingual changemaker, global citizen, and passionate advocate for educational access and cross-cultural human connection. As co-founder of Bilingual Bookshelf, she has combined deep community roots with international perspective to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps for young English learners. As a fluent Spanish speaker and granddaughter of Brownsville educators, Alexandra grew up witnessing both the promise of bilingualism and the challenges many families face navigating education in a second language. Through early experiences from summer visits to her family’s hometown in the Valley to interning at a Spanish speaking law firm, a lifelong mission has been instilled in her: to make literacy and connection accessible in every language.
At Bilingual Bookshelf, Alexandra leads outreach and community engagement, turning empathy into impact. She has worked directly with pediatricians to integrate the program into multiple of their clinics, organized informational community events, and orchestrated a live television interview on KRGV Channel 5 News, a national ABC News affiliate, to expand the nonprofit’s reach. Alexandra has also read books to children on the app, coordinated with local leaders, and helped establish Bilingual Bookshelf’s distribution model.
Her dedication to cultural exchange runs deep. After studying abroad in Spain and South Africa, she returned home inspired to build bridges across cultures. She’s hosted students from Jordan, Mexico, and South Africa in her own home and continues to mentor peers as a Spanish tutor. As a rising senior at Ursuline Academy of Dallas (Class of 2026), Alexandra is an active member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Global Advisory Committee, National Honor Society, and English National Honor Society.
For Alexandra, this work is about more than language, more importantly, it is about belonging. Her mission is simple but powerful: every child deserves to be understood.
